Hi everyone! I’m sharing the cutest birthday card featuring the adorable Capybaras and Capybaras Add-On stamp and die sets by Lawn Fawn. I paired them with the older but still fabulous Toadally Awesome stamp set, as well as the new Riverside Backdrop: Landscape die. Isn’t this scene just bursting with fun?
From the moment I saw this release, I knew I wanted it. haha Lawn Fawn always creates the most wonderful little critters. As I needed to create a birthday card for my nephew, I thought the capybaras would be fun to use for his card. I stamped, coloured, and die cut loads of pieces, and I’m so glad I did! Not only did it help with designing the layout, but I now have enough elements left over to make at least three more cards.
Tips for Card Assembly
If you’ve ever worked with a lot of small die-cut elements, you’ll know how fiddly it can get. Here are a couple of tips that worked well for me:
- Make extras: It might feel like a lot at the start, but having extra pieces gives you room to play without needing to pause and stamp more.
- Take a photo: Once you’ve laid everything out and you’re happy with the design, snap a quick photo. It’s amazing how easy it is to forget what went where when you start gluing!
- Stick with what you’ve got: Some people use things like Glad Peel & Stick to hold everything in place before adhering it down. I didn’t have any on hand, but it’s definitely something to consider if you’re working with complex scenes and it means you don’t need to take a photo.
- Adhesive sheets: while I didn’t do it for this project, a great idea would have been to add adhesive sheets to the back of the cardstock before diecutting so that you create stickers. Then you don’t have to worry about adding adhesive to tiny pieces.

Inside the card…
I don’t normally share the inside of my cards, but I thought this was so cute. I love creating simple card interiors. They don’t need to be overly busy. For this one, I added one more little capybara inside the card, complete with a birthday hat and a sweet speech bubble sentiment: “Capy birthday to you.” I added a little sponging of ink around the edge of the inside panel – Mowed Lawn for the Grass and Tumbled Glass for the sky.
Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope this card brought a smile to your face. If you’re crafting with this new Lawn Fawn release, I’d love to hear what you’re making too!
