Christmas Greetings (Sweet Little Stockings)

by Kylie

Hi, today’s card came about because I wanted to use the new Jolly Felt. I thought it would be so fun to add an extra bit of fun and texture to my cards.

The Jolly Felt can be purchased separately or as part of the Sweet Stockings suite. It features 4 sheets of felt (6″x12″ / 15.2cm x 30.5cm) and comes in Bumblebee, Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive and White. I used all but the Bumblebee for my card.

I started by choosing a range of papers from the Sweet Stockings Designer Series Paper and then die cut all of the stockings (there are three different sizes) with dies from the Stockings die set. I knew I would only need three stockings but I hadn’t decided on my colours at this stage. I can always use the leftover pieces on future projects.

I added Adhesive Sheets to a small section of each of the felts I was using and then die cut the heel, toe and cuff of the stocking. This made it super simple to adhere the felt pieces to the stockings.

Next up I picked a couple of the Sweet Stockings papers to layer on a Cherry Cobbler card base. When I placed the stockings on top it was way too busy. To combat this, I die cut a scalloped rectangle (from the Stitched So Sweetly) from Vellum. This really helped soften the look and you can still see some of the patterns through the Vellum.

The sentiment, from the Sweet Little Stockings stamp set, was white heat embossed on Cherry Cobbler cardstock.

I then positioned the stockings and the sentiment on the card front and added some Bumblebee Matte Decorative Dots to tie in with the yellow on the centre stocking.

Here’s the card…

Now, here’s where you can learn from my mistakes… I shouldn’t have put the green striped stocking so far to the left. There are two reasons for this – one, the panel is uneven. The second reason is that I’ve used the same paper as the background and that makes it look wonky as well. If I hadn’t stuck it down so firmly, I would have moved everything around a little but unfortunately, I left it too long. Still, it is a nice card and I know someone will enjoy it.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Hope you have a great day!

Happy Stamping, Kylie

Love this card & set! I played this weekend and made a few, but this makes me want to run right back to make more. The felt is so charming, especially w/the DSP & scalloped edges.
