Create a card for a friend using the Dragonfly Garden stamp set

by Kylie

Hi everyone, if you’ve been following my blog for any length of time you’d know that I love to colour. Today, I want to share with you a card featuring an image which you’d think needs to be coloured but which looks fantastic just as it is. I’m using the Dragonfly Garden stamp set.

All you need to do is stamp the floral image from the Dragonfly Garden stamp set in Early Espresso ink on Basic White cardstock. To add a little extra interest and to tone down the stark white, I used the Early Espresso Stampin’ Write Marker to flick ink onto the image. The easiest way to do this is to put the nib against the edge of the lid and gently pull it away keeping it pressed against this edge. Please note, this will over time damage your nib. That’s all the colouring we are going to do!

Mat the stamped image on Crumb Cake cardstock. Next, pick a selection of patterns from the Harvest Meadow Designer Series Paper pack. Add one to a Thick Basic White card base. Sponge Crumb Cake ink around the edges. Cut some of the other paper designs into strips and layer them on your card base. I have to say the papers in this pack are so beautiful! Don’t you agree?

To balance the card, I used some Calypso Coral cardstock for the sentiment strip. The sentiment also came from the Dragonfly Garden stamp set. I stamped it in Versamark and then white heat embossed it.

Before assembling the card, I tied some Crumb Cake Baker’s Twine around my stamped panel. I also cut a piece of Cork Specialty Paper and a length of the Diamond Weave Ribbon. Then I adhered it all in place before adding a few pearls to finish the piece.

Here’s the card…

I hope this shows that you can still create pretty cards without needing to colour every image.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Hope you have a great day!
