Faux Patina Technique

by Kylie

Hi everyone, last week, on my Facebook page, I shared that I was playing with the Faux Patina Technique.  I hadn’t tried this technique for YEARS but I thought it would be PERFECT for using with the Country Floral embossing folder (which remains a favourite of mine).  It is such an easy technique but really looks super effective.  I’m going to step you through my process today.

Step One…

Take a sheet of Crumb Cake cardstock and cut to size.  Ink the Country Floral embossing folder with Crumb Cake ink.  It doesn’t have to be perfectly covered.  Place the cardstock in the folder and run through your die cutting machine.  This is what you’ll end up with.  (Make sure you remember to clean the embossing folder when you’ve finished).

Step Two…

With a Stamping Sponge or Sponge Dauber, sponge Pool Party ink onto your embossed piece.  Once again, you don’t need to cover it perfectly.

Step Three…

Next up we are sponging on Bermuda Bay ink.

Step Four…

The next colour to add to our embossed piece is Old Olive.

Step Five…

We are now adding Early Espresso ink to our piece.

Step Six…

Before doing the next step, you need to ensure the panel is completely dry.  Leave it overnight, or speed the process up with your Heat Tool.   Use your embossing buddy to remove any static. I used a clean Stamping Sponge and tapped it on to my Versamark pad which I then dabbed on to the piece.  I added a sprinkling of Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder.  Use a paintbrush to wipe away any excess powder.  You just want a little highlight in places.  Use the Heat Tool to melt the powder.

And voila! You are done!  All that is left is to use the finished piece and make a card or two.  It is so easy, isn’t it?  It really looks fantastic in real life too!  I hope you’ll give this technique a go!

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Hope you have a great day!

Happy Stamping, Kylie
