Get Well Soon / Thinking of You (Love of Leaves / Many Mates / Rooted In Nature)

by Kylie

Hi everyone, a couple of months ago I signed up to do a card class with the talented Andrea Walford.  Andrea has an amazing eye for composition, colour and pretty much everything else you need to create gorgeous cards.  For the first month of the class, we created projects using the Love of Leaves stamp sets.  Andrea encouraged us to CASE (Copy And Share Everything) her cards so we could really understand why she made the decisions she made.

I’m sharing two of the cards I  made during the class today.  The first card features the Love of Leaves stamp set with the Get Well sentiment from the Many Mates stamp set.  The second card uses the Thinking of You sentiment from the Rooted in Nature stamp set.

To create the gorgeous leaves I first inked up the stamp in one colour and then used my Sponge Dauber to add extra depth to the edges with another, darker colour.  This technique really helps to add dimension.

Here’s the first card

Here’s the second card

They are pretty cards, aren’t they?! Another piece of advice from Andrea with regards to creating cards like this is to stamp up HEAPS of images in different colours.  This way you can then easily assembly multiple cards in one crafting session.  Plus you have all you might need without having to down tools and stamp up more.  I love this advice.  Sometimes I follow it but I confess other times I don’t.  Do you?

I think the closest I come to stamping multiples is leaving a stamp in position in the Misti. I often get bored making multiples of the same card. That sounds awful, doesn’t it?!! Your cards are gorgeous, btw… Are you sure you didn’t sneak up here and see the colors out my patio doors? You’ve captured Fall around here perfectly. And I really like that woodgrain ef on your second card. I have a plate, but it cuts some of the woodgrain lines which it isn’t supposed to do, so I hate it now. Rotten thing! Anyway…great cards! Sending hugs. Missing you. xo

Hi friend, your comments always make me smile. 🙂 I agree that making multiples can be boring. I usually find that after making the Christmas cards each year (which are always the same) that I am definitely looking at making something different. I do love varying just the odd detail though to see if I can improve upon a design. I love autumn! It’s my favourite season! With regards to your plate, I had an idea which might work. If you spray your cardstock with water or rubbing alcohol before running it through your machine you might find that the paper won’t tear as it is more pliable. Can’t hurt to try. Hugs to you too! xx
