Happy Birthday (Sweet Strawberry)

by Kylie

Hi everyone, have you heard of the Scrappy Strip Technique? It was quite popular a while ago and I think it originated with Bruno Bertucci. Well, he certainly made it popular! It’s an incredibly simple technique but looks super good – and it is an awesome way to use some of your gorgeous Designer Series Paper. There’s also still time to save and stock up on some of your favourite patterned paper as the Designer Series Paper Sale continues. It does end on 2 August so don’t delay if there’s something on your wish list.

Okay, let’s get onto the card. All you need to do is cut up strips of your patterned paper. I used the Sweet Symmetry Designer Series Paper for my card. Try to cut them on an angle so they are odd shapes as this gives a little more interest to your design. You can layout the strips so you make a design you are happy with or you can choose to just stick them down. I used Liquid Adhesive to adhere my strips so that I had a little bit of wiggle room to position the papers.

Once you have finished with your design, trim it to the size you like. I chose to have only a narrow border on my card base but I think if I was to create another card like this, then I would mat it before adhering to the card base.

Add your sentiment. I used a sentiment from the Sweet Strawberry stamp set and then die cut it with the Scalloped Contours die. I put a little bit of White Twine behind it and then popped it up with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I finished the card with a few of the clear Elegant Faceted Gems.

Here’s the card…

It’s such a quick and easy card. I know you are going to love re-creating it! Don’t forget the Designer Series Paper sale finishes on 2 August so there’s still time to stock up and save on some of your favourite patterned papers.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Hope you have a great day!
