Happy Mother’s Day (Hand-Penned Petals / A Wish for Everything)

by Kylie

Hi everyone, on the eve of the launch of the 2021-2022 Annual catalogue, I thought I would share a couple of cards made from products that will be available from tomorrow. YAY! I’m so excited for you to finally be able to see all the wonderful new products and inspiration!

Today I am sharing two versions of Mother’s Day cards. I made one for my Mum and one for my partners Mum. Can you believe Mother’s Day is just around the corner? Here’s your reminder in case you haven’t made your card yet. If only someone had reminded me that I need to account for interstate post now that I’m on the opposite coast from my Mum! Oops! Somehow I don’t think it is going to arrive in time. Oh well! I will FaceTime her on the day.

Okay, onto the card. I used the fabulous new Hand-Penned Petals Bundle. This is a two-step stamp set and die set (available separately and individually) and it will be available from tomorrow. It features line drawings and solid stamps to add colour. As you can see, the solid images do not perfectly match the line drawings. I confess it threw me at first but I love that it doesn’t have a perfect look. I actually used this stamp set in two different ways. The first way is as the focal point of the card. I simply stamped the line image and then added colour with the solid images. Very quick and easy. The second way I used it was to create the background of the card. This was also a quick and easy process. I stamped the line image in Versamark all over the card base and then heat embossed it. Next, I used a Water Painter to add some watered down ink to the flowers. It is such a fun look. I love this technique!

Here’s the first card…

Here’s the second card…

Which colour combination is your favourite? I can’t decide.

This is such a sweet card design and they really didn’t take long to make once I had worked out my design. I think you could try out many different colour combinations too. Don’t you think it would be fun to create a few cards like this to have on hand but just leave the sentiment off? You could add it later when required.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Hope you have a great day!

Happy Stamping, Kylie

Your card is lovely. How did you do the background piece? Thanks.

Hi Melissa, thank you for the lovely comment. I stamped the main flower image all over the card base in Versamark and then heat embossed it in white. Next up, I mixed up some ink with water (in the same colour as my card base) and then painted the flowers. Hope this helps! Let me know if you need more information. 🙂

Beautiful card!! I’ve never seen this technique and had to try it out. I will be doing this more going forward!
