Hopping By to Say…Hoppy Birthday (Lawn Fawn)

by Kylie

Hi everyone! I hope you all had a lovely Christmas. Isn’t it funny how there’s such a big build-up, and then—just like that—it’s over? I feel like I’m firmly in the “what day is it?” stage and being more than a little lazy… and honestly, it’s nice! I will have to get back into things soon, though, because I have lots of cards to make. Today, I am sharing a super cute birthday card featuring Lawn Fawn’s Kanga-rrific stamps and dies.

Creating the Background

To bring the scene to life, I started with some ink blending. I chose a colour scheme I’ve used before: Daffodil Delight (Stampin’ Up!®), along with Picked Raspberry and Seedless Preserves (Distress Inks) for the sky. For the grass, I used Freshly Cut Grass from Lawn Fawn.

Once the blending was done, I spattered water over the sky and adhered the panel to my card base. The grass was die-cut using the Cactus Hillside die (Lawn Fawn), adhered to the card front, and trimmed to size.

Stamp, Colour, Cut

Next, I stamped, coloured, and die-cut a heap of images from the Kanga-rrific! and Kanga-rrific! Add-On stamp sets. I always prepare more images than I think I’ll need.

You might be wondering why, and the answer is simple. If I mess up my colouring, I can grab another image without having to get everything out again. If I decide I need an extra tree, rock, or critter, that’s covered too. I don’t have to remember which colours I used or pull out all my supplies again. Any unused pieces can be popped inside the card or saved for another project.

Once all the pieces were ready, I arranged them on the card front, moving everything around until I was happy with the overall look. Then I adhered them in place and added a little Wink of Stella to some of the images for extra shimmer.

Finally, I stamped the sentiment in Versamark onto grey cardstock, white heat-embossed it, and trimmed it to size.

If you’ve been feeling uninspired, here’s an idea to try. Stamp, colour and die-cut a heap of images from cute critter sets like Lawn Fawn’s Kanga-rrific! and Kanga-rrific! Add-on stamp sets. Sponge an ink background, then play around with creating a scene. Once you are happy with your design, adhere it down, add some shimmer, a sentiment – and you’re done! Then, pick another set and do it all again. It doesn’t matter if they all look a little the same, just play! Hopefully, this helps kickstart your mojo!

Thanks so much for stopping by today. Hope you all have an amazing day!
