I Can’t Thank You Enough (So Sentimental)

by Kylie

Hi everyone, today’s card is a direct CASE (Copy And Share Everything) of a card featured in the new January to June 2020 Mini Catalogue.  When I first saw this design, I was like, “oh, I haven’t done anything like that in AGES”.  The technique immediately went onto my to-do list.  I actually love the whole design of the card that I’ve recreated it very faithfully.  It’s so fun!  So, what is the idea?  The idea is to use die cuts to create a cool background.  (You can also use punches).

The Stitched So Sweetly Dies have some great scalloped rectangle dies but they also have four other really fun shapes as well.  I originally only thought about these shapes as being used with sentiments but when I saw the example it opened up a whole new design world.

For the card below, I repeatedly die cut one of the shapes and then layered it over the card base to create a pretty pattern.  Another option would be to use an embossing mat with your die cut machine and simply emboss the shape but I really wanted that textured look.

To finish off the card I used my Stamparatus to stamp the sentiment using a stamp from the So Sentimental stamp set.  It is so easy to stamp multiple colours using the Stamparatus.  Then die cut the sentiment out.  The floral images are actually preprinted die cuts from the Peaceful Poppies Elements pack.  The leaves are also from this pack.  The interesting thing about the leaves is that they have white printing on a watercolour paper and you add your desired colour.  It’s very cool!

Here’s the card…

It’s a really cool effect isn’t it?!  It also looks really good with word dies too.  It doesn’t just have to be basic shapes.  I hope you’ll give it a try.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Hope you have a great day!

Happy Stamping, Kylie
