Hi everyone, have you all seen the Seascape bundle on page 12 of the Annual Catalogue? I loved it the moment I saw it and all the fun samples. My original plan was to CASE (Copy And Share Everything) all of the cards from the catalogue (and I probably will as they are the cutest) but when I sat down to start I got sidetracked playing with the Seahorse die from the Sea Life die set.
The card I’m sharing today is all about die-cuts and blending. I had so much fun playing with different colour combinations. And let me tell you, the Blending Brushes are FABULOUS! They are a bit of an investment at $21.00 for a pack of 3 but they make blending so much easier. Plus, you can wash them to use them again and again. I have a couple labelled with the colours I use most often. I also have some without labels which I wash and leave to dry at the end of a crafting session. They are the best. Okay, back to the card. It is important to note the dies don’t actually cut the seahorses completely out of the cardstock (this is the same for the fish die as well). You will need to cut a few paper tabs. I die-cut the seahorses twice and used one in reverse so I could position them as though they were looking at each other. I also die cut two of the coral shapes from the Sea Life die set, and a heart from the Floral Heart die set. Then I got to colouring them in with the Blending Brushes.
The colours I used are listed below:
Seahorse #1: Pale Papaya, Flirty Flamingo, Rich Razzleberry
Seahorse #2: Balmy Blue, Highland Heather, Gorgeous Grape
Coral: Pale Papaya, Daffodil Delight, Granny Apple Green
Heart: Polished Pink
The next step was to stamp the seaweed from the Seascape stamp set onto a panel of Coastal Cabana. I also stamped the sand stamp in Crumb Cake on a small piece of Crumb Cake Cardstock. I also stamped the greeting in Crumb Cake onto a small strip of Basic White Cardstock.
To pull the card together, I adhered all the die cuts in place and popped up the sentiment strip. The final touch was to add a coat of Wink of Stella to the Seahorses. They didn’t photograph well but they do look so pretty in real life.
