Hi everyone! After recently sharing my gamer-themed birthday card using the now-retired Level Complete stamp set by Stampin’ Up!©, it was still sitting on my desk so I decided to make a second version. This time, I made just one small change: the base cardstock. Instead of orange, I chose a bold green, and it completely shifted the feel of the card!
Same Design, New Look
The layout, colouring, and stamped elements are all the same in this card as they were in the first version of this card. I used the same controller and trophy images, the same Copic blends, and even the same sentiment grouping—“Achievement Unlocked,” “Leveled Up!,” “+1,” and “Happy Birthday.” Swapping out the base for a bright green gave the whole card a slightly more playful, energetic vibe. It’s such a good reminder that even small tweaks—like cardstock colour—can make a design feel new.
Here’s the card…
Why make a Second Card?
There are a couple of reasons I chose to recreate this design. Sometimes I like to create variations of a design when I’ve enjoyed the process or when I want to experiment without starting from scratch. Reusing the elements I already had on hand made this second version quick and easy to put together. It also gave me the chance to test which background worked better for different recipients. And let’s be honest—we invest a lot in our supplies (well, I do!), so I think it’s important to use them often. They’re definitely not one-hit wonders!
If you’re ever short on time or mojo—revisit a design you love and make a couple of small changes. Different colours, a slightly new layout, or even a different sentiment can give you a whole new card with minimal effort.
If you haven’t seen the first version of this card yet, you can check it out here. And don’t forget—my Colouring Combinations Printable is available in my Ko-fi store if you want to save your favourite colour combinations for future projects!
Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you have a great day!
