Stampin’ Creative Global Blog Hop – July 2021 – Summer Dreams

by Kylie

Hello and welcome to the Stampin’ Creative Global Blog Hop! Currently, you’re visiting the blog of Kylie at Stampers Workshop! Thanks so much for hopping with us this month. To see the rest of the blogs in the hop, there’s a list below.

The theme for our July 2021 Blog Hop is Summer Dreams.

I confess it was a little hard to think of Summer Dreams whilst smack dab in Winter. Now, it doesn’t get as cold here in WA as it does in Victoria (from where I moved late last year) but it does still get cold, windy and rainy. I started thinking about Summer and the first thing which popped into my head is the HEAT! I’m not a fan. So then I started thinking about things you do during summer and going down to the beach is one of my favourite things to do – albeit at sunset. Watching the sunset is one of my favourite things to do. A conversation my partner and I had with a man at the beach one summer a couple of years ago then popped into my head. The man had been searching the waters for signs of seahorses. That’s when I decided I had to use the Seascape Bundle for my card.

Here’s the card…

The card is actually pretty easy to create. I created the card base from Coastal Cabana cardstock. I also cut another panel the same size as my card front and die cut one of the shapes from the Layering Diorama die set. I stamped the sand onto a couple of strips of Crumb Cake cardstock and tore along one edge to give a little more interest. Next up was a lot more die-cutting. I cut out some fish, the seaweed/coral and the seahorse. These are all dies in the Sea Life die set. Such a great set. I used Blending Brushes to add colour to all the die-cut pieces. I also added some shading around the edge of my top panel.

The sentiment, from the Seascape stamp set, was stamped in Versamark ink on Polished Pink cardstock and then white heat embossed. I love the look of the white on the pink. I also stamped a few fish in the background to try and create the illusion of a little more depth.

All that was left was to assemble the card. I adhered the base layer items first then popped up the top panel. I thought the card needed one final touch and so I added a coating of Wink of Stella to all of the die-cut pieces.

It’s such a bright and happy card. The colours remind me of summer too, don’t you think so too?
