No, It Isn’t a Christmas Card

by Catherine Carroll

Hi Everyone,

I have been enjoying playing with the Autumn Groves set from Paper Smooches. I have loved the tree trunks in this set for ages and have been thinking about what sort of scene I could create. I thought the tree trunks looked a bit like ghost gums and from there my idea was set. I woke up with the idea firmly in my head – a forest of ghost gums, a starry blue sky and two birds canoodling. This card actually looks pretty close to what was in my mind. As I got closer to finishing it though, I realised – “it looks like a Christmas card!” Especially when I added the starry background and the little red birds. It isn’t meant to be though but I guess I can file the idea away for Christmas time! lol

I think I will add this card into the Anything Goes challenge on the Paper Smooches SPARKS challenge blog too.

I agree with you, I think this would make one fantastic Christmas card. Though with the “Loved” sentiment, it also kind of looks a bit like a Valentine’s card. It’s such a great and versatile image.

I think my favorite part of this card is how simple it is. You could probably create quite a few of them without too much fuss- and that’s so perfect for giving as a gift to a loved one for Christmas or birthday.

Oh yeah, Elle, you are right – it *could* be a Valentine’s day card too. Never thought of that, despite the “loved” sentiment. lol Thank you so much for your sweet words, I so appreciate them! hugs!

Eeeee…this is a delightful card! I love x love your description: “a forest of ghost gums, a starry blue sky and two birds canoodling.” You’ve translated your ‘vision’ into ‘creation’ superbly! In fact, I can’t help smiling about those two, nestled amongst the trees – can you believe I’ve never heard the phrase ‘ghost gums’ before (I wonder if they’re the equivalent of our birch trees here)- under the romantic, star-light night sky. Such happiness…birdy-bliss, indeed!! Fabulous and delightful, my sweet friend! Hugs~c

Have I ever told you that your enthusiasm is totally infectious, C? 🙂 Each time I read a comment from you I feel inspired and happy. Thank you!! Oh ghost gums are native to Australia which is possibly why you haven’t heard of them before. Pretty trees though. 🙂 Thank you again for your sweet words, C! hugs!
