Use patterned paper to make quick, easy and beautiful cards (Timeless Tropical / New Horizons DSP)

by Kylie

Hi everyone, today I am sharing two lovely cards which took hardly any time to make. They are perfect if you are short on time and need a fast card. The main star of these cards is the gorgeous New Horizons Designer Series Papers. Have you seen them? You can find them on page 43 of the January to June 2022 Mini Catalogue. The papers are really quite beautiful. If you like them but you aren’t sure how to use them, this idea might be one for you.

To create the cards, all I did was trim one of the patterned papers in half and trim a little from the top too, so that it fitted on a card front. In order to make it look a little like the paper was a painting on canvas, I embossed them with the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder. It looks so good! You could easily skip this step!

Next, I matted the patterned paper on some Evening Evergreen cardstock and stuck it on my Thick Basic White card base. As I wanted to keep the cards really simple, my next step was to stamp the greetings from the Timeless Tropical stamp set, in Evening Evergreen, on Basic White cardstock and trim them to size. I then layered a little strip of the Evening Evergreen cardstock underneath before adhering the sentiment to the card.

If the cards are a little too simple for you, then you could always step up the card by adding bling, popping up the sentiment with Stampin’ Dimensionals, die-cutting and/or heat-embossing the sentiments, adding ribbon and so much more.

I love these cards. The New Horizons Designer Series Paper is so beautiful! The paper I used for my cards is my favourite from the pack. I love how it looks. All the supplies you need can be found in my online store here.

Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you have a great day!
