Watercolour with the Delicate Dahlias stamp set

by Kylie

Hi, the Delicate Dahlias stamp set is a gorgeous Two-Step stamp set. It is also one that could be yours for free with a qualifying order during Sale-A-Bration. I love that the set comes with both a line image and a solid image. They can be used together or alone. I couldn’t help but use the line image and do some watercolouring.

I created this card using regular Basic White cardstock. This isn’t designed to take a lot of water so be careful not to add too much as you colour. Start off by stamping the main floral image in Versamark and then white heat embossing. Use a mask to cover this image and then stamp again. Repeat this process until you are happy with the design. Stamp the leaves where you want them. (In hindsight, I think a third leaf would have been nice in the lower right hand corner). If you are wondering how to create a mask, take a full stick Post It note and stamp the image in an ink you can see. Use your Paper Snips to cut the shape out, and I recommend cutting just inside the line so you don’t end up with a halo effect. When using the mask, make sure you lift it while you do your embossing just so you don’t ruin either the stamping or the mask.

I smooshed some Polished Pink, Pumpkin Pie and Granny Apple Green inks onto a clear block. Next I used my Water Painter to add a little water to the stamped images. Remember not to add too much as it isn’t watercolour paper. I then mixed up the ink with water and my Water Painter and started to paint the images. This is such a fun way to colour an image. You’ll end up with such a soft and pretty image.

While the images dry, you can create the rest of the card. I took a sheet of Thick Basic White cardstock and created my card base. The front was embossed with the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder. The sentiment comes from the Many Messages stamp set. I stamped it in Versamark onto a piece of Pear Pizzazz cardstock and then white heat embossed it before die cutting it with the Messages die.

By now, the main focal piece had dried. I cut it down to the size I wanted and then wrapped a length of White Organdy ribbon around it and tied a bow. It’s such a pretty ribbon! This piece was then layered directly onto a slightly bigger piece of Pear Pizzazz cardstock and then popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I attached the sentiment with Stampin’ Dimensionals and then finished off the card by adding Wink of Stella to the flowers and clear dots from the Silver & Clear Epoxy Essentials pack. I love the clear dots on flowers as it kind of makes me think of dew drops.

Here’s the card…

This was such a fun card for me to make. It’s easy and looks so pretty in person – much prettier than in the photo! If you are interested in getting the Delicate Dahlias stamp set, it is available to choose as a free gift with a qualifying order during Sale-A-Bration. You are going to love creating with it. It’s so beautiful!

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Hope you have a great day!
