You Make My Heart Go Beep: A Playful Anniversary Card

by Kylie

Hi everyone! Today, I’m sharing a very special card I created for Al in celebration of our 7th anniversary together. I’ll admit, I was feeling a bit stuck for ideas at first and decided to flip through my stash for inspiration. When I came across the Nuts & Bolts stamp set by Stampin’ Up!©, I knew instantly it was the one. It may be retired now, but I just couldn’t part with it — it’s far too cute, quirky, and fun!

I stamped the robot holding the heart and coloured it simply with Copic Markers. To make sure the sentiment strips coordinated perfectly, I used the same pink markers to colour some white cardstock before stamping the words (which I then heat embossed, and cut apart). It’s a small detail, but I love how it ties everything together.

The card didn’t photograph quite as well as I’d hoped — the colours are much more charming in real life. I used a soft palette of greys, golds, and pinks, which feels romantic without being overly sweet. The sentiment “You make my heart go beep” makes me smile — it’s sweet, playful, and just a little bit cheeky. Perfect!

To finish things off, I popped up the robot and sentiment with foam tape for a bit of dimension, added some white paint splatter for texture, and of course, a touch of shimmer to the hearts — both on the robot and those scattered around the card.

Here’s the card…

Do you like to make funny and punny cards for your partner, or do you lean more toward sentimental designs? I like to mix it up. It depends on my creative mood at the time.

Thanks so much for stopping by today.
