Hi everyone, last week I shared a card using the Dragonfly Garden stamp set where we didn’t do any colouring at all. Today, we are going to use the same image but step it up with a little colouring. It’s super easy; you are going to love it!
All you need to do is stamp the floral image from the Dragonfly Garden stamp set in Early Espresso ink on Basic White cardstock or Shimmery White Cardstock. Press a little more of this ink on a clear block as this is going to be our colouring medium. With your Water Painter, pick up some of the ink and paint the image. Don’t worry if you go out of the lines! When you’ve finished, gently flick some of the ink onto the cardstock to finish it off. As we are not using watercolour paper, nor is the ink waterproof, try not to use too much water as it will smudge and bleed.
Create the card base from Early Espresso cardstock. Add a panel of paper from the Harvest Meadow Designer Series Paper pack. I had some leftover strips of paper from the previous card so I positioned them across the centre of the card. Instead of having them evenly spaced, I left them in a more random design.
Take your painted panel and tear the edges until the panel is the size you want it to be. Add a little Baker’s Twine around this panel and attach it to your card base. I dyed some white Baker’s Twine with Early Espresso so that it matched my card perfectly.
The final touch was to stamp the sentiment (from the Many Messages stamp set) on Early Espresso cardstock and white heat emboss it. I then die cut it using the coordinating Messages die set and popped it up on the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Here’s the card…
What I love about this card, aside from the painted floral image, is that it is pretty monochromatic except for the pop of colour with the blue Harvest Meadow patterned paper. It’s a little different from my usual style too which was fun.
Thanks so much for stopping by! Hope you have a great day!
Listed below are the supplies used to create the above project. If the stamp set, die set, etc, also comes as a part of a bundle or suite, I link to all so that you have choices. I also link refills and basic supplies like adhesives which correspond with items used to make my projects. These links take you to my online store.
