Happy Birthday (Simply Succulents / Vine Design)

Hi everyone, recently one of my sweet friends celebrated her birthday. As she loves plants and succulents, in particular, the only choice of product to create her card with was the Simply Succulents bundle.

After stamping the main images in Black Memento ink, I coloured the design in with an assortment of Stampin’ Blends (including Soft Succulent and Pale Papaya which will be available from 4 May 2021). Some of my colouring choices were inspired by one of the sample cards in the new catalogue.

The card base and patterned papers are in Soft Succulent. The sentiment, from Vine Design, was stamped on Fresh Freesia (another new InColor) cardstock.

The stamped image was finished off with a coat of Wink of Stella to add a nice subtle shimmer.

I’m so happy with how this card has turned out and I hope my friend loves it as well.

What do you all think of the new 2021-2023 InColors? Are you looking forward to getting them too? I think you are going to find they (along with the new Polished Pink and Evening Evergreen) really do go a long way to rounding out the colours in the Stampin’ Up!® range.

Hi everyone, do you ever sit down to create with a clear idea as to what you want to do? Sometimes I do, but other times I have no idea! Today’s card came to me when I was creating the card I shared the other day using the Vine Design Bundle and I couldn’t wait to bring it to life.

Sadly, as happens sometimes, I couldn’t get it to work. I don’t know why! There are a couple of things you can do when this happens. The first is to walk away and come back to it later. Fresh eyes often help. I tried this and still, I couldn’t get it to work as I envisaged. So I moved onto the second option which is to talk to someone about it. I took a photo of what I had done so far, mentioned which parts were already adhered, and sent it through to my friend Melissa asking for help. Melissa immediately came back and recommended the addition of the Pastel Pearls to the centre of the die-cut piece. It immediately improved the design.

I had sat with this card for DAYS and couldn’t make it work as I wanted. Whilst this card will never be a favourite of mine, I am SO much happier with it. So, when you have struggled with your cards, don’t give up! Take a break! Talk to a friend! You may not totally LOVE the card at the end but someone will!

Congratulations (Vine Design)

Hi everyone, today I am sharing a couple of cards featuring the Vine Design Bundle. The bundle consists of the Vine Design stamp set and the Flowering Vine die set. What first captured my attention about this bundle was the die set as the imagery was so beautiful! I talked myself out of it a few times because I thought it might be fiddly or a bit of a one-hit-wonder. In the end, I caved and I’m so glad I got it! I cannot wait to create more cards with it.

For the first card, I started with a colour combination similar to one of the sample cards in the catalogue. I used Pear Pizzazz, Blushing Bride, Daffodil Delight and Very Vanilla. It’s such a pretty combination!

A couple of tips I have is to use the Adhesive sheets on your cardstock before you do your die-cutting. It just makes it so much easier to get things adhered to the card base. I also recommend die-cutting all the backing pieces so you can pick and choose as you are creating your card. You can then use any leftover pieces on other cards.

Since I had die cut so many pieces I decided to make a second card. This time I used the same colours as above and also introduced Calypso Coral. Instead of the rectangle shape, I used the circle shape from the die set. They look so pretty!

I love these simple cards. A few ideas you could implement to change things up include drawing a white border around the larger die-cut shape. You could also use a die and emboss a border instead of drawing it. I think that could look really good. Another idea is to use Stampin’ Dimensionals to pop up the sentiment.
