Stampers Anonymous Blog Hop #33: Colour Challenge

Stampers Anonymous Team Blog Hop

Hi, welcome to the Stampers Anonymous Blog Hop day! Thanks so much for hopping with us this month. The theme for our August 2021 Blog Hop is a Colour Challenge. We were challenged to create a card using Pale Papaya, Soft Succulent and Evening Evergreen. We are also permitted to use Basic White, Basic Black and/or Very Vanilla.

Here’s the Challenge…

I actually found this to be a little extra challenging. I really like all the colours chosen. They all work so well together but they are a little more subtle than the colours I usually choose.

To start, I selected the Delicate Dahlias stamp set for my project. This is a Sale-A-Bration stamp set that could be yours for free with a qualifying order. The stamp set is a fun two-step stamp set which is fabulous. For my card, I chose to stick with the line art images only.

I started by stamping the large dahlia, and the leaves (three times) on a piece of Fluid 100 Watercolour Paper with Versamark Ink. I then heat embossed the images with White Embossing Powder. The greeting was also stamped in Versamark on a small piece of Soft Succulent cardstock and heat embossed this with the White Embossing Powder.

Next up, I added clean water to the images and then dropped in my colour. I used Pale Papaya to colour the dahlia. It looks so pretty. For the leaves, I added a wash of the Soft Succulent ink. I blotted some of the ink off and then added just a little of the Evening Evergreen to the lower parts of the leaves. When it was dry, I fussy cut the images out with Paper Snips.

The card base was made with the Basic White Thick cardstock. I covered the entire front with a panel of Soft Succulent patterned paper from the 2021-2023 In Colour 6×6 Designer Series Paper pack. I placed a panel of Basic White cardstock in the Brick & Mortar Embossing Folder and ran it through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine before adding it to the centre of my card base.

The next step was to assemble the card. I adhered the leaves with Seal but decided to pop up the Dahlia with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The sentiment strip was popped up too. The final touch was to add a few Evening Evergreen rhinestones from the 2021-2023 In Colour Jewels pack.

Here’s the card…

I’m actually really happy with how this card turned out. I loved playing with painting my images too. It was so fun!
