Stampers Anonymous Blog Hop #42: Colour Challenge

Hi, welcome to the Stampers Anonymous Blog Hop day! Thanks so much for hopping with us this month. The theme for our May 2022 Blog Hop is a Colour Challenge. We were challenged to create a project using Petal Pink, Soft Sea Form and one of the new In Colours – Parakeet Party, Tahitian Tide, Starry Sky, Sweet Sorbet, or Orchid Oasis.

Here’s the Challenge…

When I first saw the challenge, my heart sank a little. I thought there was no way I could create a card using the soft colours of Petal Pink and Soft Sea Foam and team them with the brightness of the new 2022-2024 In Colours. I started by selecting a solid stamp and stamping all the colours out to see which looked best together. Parakeet Party seemed to be the best choice for me.

I played around with a few ideas before realising that the Soft Sea Foam Stampin’ Blends look really good when teamed with the Light Parakeet Party Stampin’ Blends. It gives it a really interesting highlight. I’m actually quite a fan of this combo now!

The card base was created from Soft Sea Foam cardstock and I stamped one of the images from the Cottage Rose stamp set randomly over the front in Soft Sea Foam ink. I then stamped the main floral image and the leaves stamp on Basic White cardstock with Tuxedo Black Memento ink. The flower was coloured with the Light and Dark Petal Pink Stampin’ Blends and I also dabbed a little of the Light Petal Pink Stampin’ Blends on the top of the blossoms. The leaves were coloured with the Light and Dark Soft Sea Foam and the Light Parakeet Party Stampin’ Blends.

I layered the leaf pieces directly on the card base but popped up the main image with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Of course, I did have to add a coat of the Wink of Stella to the petals for that little bit of shimmer. The sentiment, also from the Cottage Rose stamp set, was stamped in Versamark and white heat-embossed on Petal Pink cardstock. I trimmed this to size and layered it on the card.

The final touches included adding a bow of white twine and some pearls which I coloured with the Dark Petal Pink Stampin’ Blends.
