18 (Breathtaking Bouquet)

by Kylie

Hi everyone, when my niece turned 18 last month, I had been busy creating a card for the Stampers Anonymous Colour Challenge.  I realised that the colours for the challenge were similar to the kinds of colours Abbey loves.  I decided to work with my original design but change it up a little so that it was perfect for her.  Regular readers might recognise that I have created a couple of similar cards using this technique.  You can see them here and here.

For this card, I used Seaside Spray, Purple Posy and Melon Mambo.  Now, Melon Mambo is by far the most dominant of the three colours so you need only use a little bit.  I didn’t add much at all and you can see that it has definitely dominated the card.  In fact, I actually made the background twice as the first time it ended up completely pink which wasn’t the effect I was looking for.

I embossed the Breathtaking Bouquet image over my watercoloured piece.  When stamping such a large image, and especially on stamping on a textured cardstock like watercolour paper, I always use the Stamparatus.  This way if the image doesn’t stamp properly you can re-ink and re-stamp as many times as necessary.  This time I added Silver embossing powder to the image and it looks sooooo pretty!  I finished off the card with silver die-cut numbers (unfortunately, these dies are no longer available).

Here’s the card…

This card is SO much prettier in real life!  It is difficult (for me) to take photographs of shimmery, shiny cards.  And if you were wondering, Abbey LOVED the card and she had a wonderful 18th birthday!

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Hope you have a great day!

Happy Stamping, Kylie
