Happy Birthday Trio (Party Puffins)

Hi everyone, recently I attended an online Stampin’ Up!® event called OnStage. Before the global pandemic, these events were always fun to attend in person. Stampin’ Up!® always strives to make the Demonstrator only events fun and informative. At these events we get to see new products unveiled, with hints and tips to create awesome projects with them; there are business tips too and we also get to network with other demonstrators. It’s fun! Stampin’ Up!® encouraged us to create cards to “swap” virtually. This basically meant creating a card which we then displayed for other people to see during small Zoom networking sessions and we talked about how and why we created the card. I ended up making three cards because…well, who can stop at one?

My cards feature the new Puffin Party stamp set which is so fun! To create my card I also used the new Designer Series Paper pack called Pattern Party. This paper is only available to customers who meet certain buying criteria but it is definitely such a cool pack! It has fun colourful patterns on one side and lovely black and white designs on the other (and you know how much I love black and white papers!).

You might be wondering why I made three cards that are ostensibly the same? I wanted to illustrate that by changing your colour combinations, you can easily change your audience. For example, I felt the Misty Moonlight card was potentially more of a masculine card. The bright Poppy Parade card could be more suited to a juvenile whereas the Pool Party/Flirty Flamingo card, with a few Rhinestones, could potentially be considered more of a feminine card.

No matter how you look at these cards, I’m sure you will agree the Party Puffins are so very cute! I know you are going to enjoy creating with them as much as I did!

StampingPals Challenge #15 | Colour Challenge

Hi everyone! Welcome to the StampingPals Challenge for May 2021.  This month we have a colour challenge and you can see it below.  We were challenged to create a card using Highland Heather, Pumpkin Pie and Melon Mambo. You could also choose to add Basic Black, Basic White and/or Very Vanilla.

Here’s the Challenge…

Colour challenges can be just that – challenging! At first, I had no idea where to start and so I pulled out all the ink and swatched the colours to see how they worked together. They looked so pretty and before I knew it I had created a really pretty background. I really wanted that background to be the focus of my card and the Bokeh Technique popped into my head. Have you heard of this technique? It’s actually really simple and looks super pretty. Bokeh is “the blurred quality or effect seen in the out-of-focus portion of a photograph taken with a narrow depth of field” (Mirriam-Webster Dictionary). That’s the type of effect I wanted to create!

To create the card, I created a sponged a background of Melon Mambo, Highland Heather, and Pumpkin Pie using the Blending Brushes. Next up, I created my own template using the Layering Circles dies. Once this was created, I sponged White ink over my card base. Immediately, the Bokeh look began to appear. So cool! The card was finished with a sentiment stamped and embossed on vellum. The sentiment is from the Happiest of Birthdays stamp set. I die cut the sentiment out using the Scalloped Contours dies (which will be available from 4 May 2021).

Add some Multipurpose Liquid Glue to the back of the vellum. I try to stick to the areas where I have the embossing so that it doesn’t show through the other side. Add some White Twine (from the Snail Mail Twine Combo Pack), a few gems from the Elegant Faceted Gems and you are done!

Happy B-Day (Happiest of Birthdays / True Love DSP)

Hi everyone, if you are a fan of simple colouring then you will love today’s card. It’s all about colouring a piece of paper from the True Love Designer Series Paper pack. I love colouring this paper – I find it to be a relaxing way to pass the time. You don’t need to worry too much about colouring in the lines because after colouring in the flowers you then colour in the background with your Dark Basic Black Stampin’ Blends marker. It will colour right over the top of any ‘mistakes’. Truthfully, I don’t worry too much if I do go out of the lines. It happens sometimes.

After colouring the patterned paper, I matted it on a piece of Basic White cardstock. Now, you could add it to the centre of your card base, but for something different, I chose to position this panel off-centre.

All that was left then was to add the sentiment which comes from the Happiest of Birthdays stamp set. I added a few extra touches in the form of Matte Black Dots and some ribbon (which I coloured with the Pool Party Stampin’ Blends so that it match my flowers). It’s as easy as that to create a cool card for any occasion.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this feature of creating cards with the True Love Designer Series Paper. When we buy a pack of paper we do get quite a few sheets and I know some of you are scared to cut into it…just in case you ‘ruin it’ or run out of it. I am hoping I’ve inspired you to get your paper out and actually use it. You can always order more from my online store if you do happen to use it all up! Happy Birthday (A Wish for Everything / True Love DSP)

Hi everyone, I hope you are enjoying our feature on using the True Love Designer Series Paper. I’ve enjoyed showing some of the different ways to use this gorgeous paper. Today, I am showing how you can use a number of different papers all on one card to create a really lovely background. It’s quite simple! Once again, this design is one you can easily create a few to have on hand.

All I did was cut a few strips of the different papers from the True Love Designer Series Paper and layer them onto a cardstock base. Easy! You could add them on an angle, or vary the size but for my card, I layered them fairly evenly.

I finished the card with an off-centred sentiment using the A Wish for Everything stamp set and coordinating Word Wishes dies. I also added a flower that was cut out from one of the True Love Designer Series Papers.

You could make the sentiment section as detailed or as simple as you like. If you want the card to have more of a masculine feel, you could choose to use only the graphic designs from the True Love Designer Series Paper pack rather than including floral papers. It’s a design that offers such flexibility.

Happy Birthday (Peaceful Moments / True Love DSP)

Hi everyone, today we are continuing our feature on making cards with the absolutely fabulous True Love Designer Series Paper. I am sharing a project inspired by a card featured in the January to June 2021 Mini Catalogue. You can see the original on page 10. This card is actually very quick and easy to make. The part which will take the most time is the fussy cutting of the flowers from the patterned paper but really it won’t take you that long.

To create this card, add a panel of the beautiful True Love DSP to a Basic Black cardstock base. Die-cut a panel of Vellum with a die from the Stitched So Sweetly die set and layer this on top of your panel. As you can generally see adhesive through vellum, you might want to wait to adhere this piece until you are sure where everything is going to go. That way you can hide the adhesive.

The sentiment comes from the lovely Peaceful Moments stamp set. This is a great set as it has a sentiment for almost any occasion. I stamped the sentiment in Versamark and embossed it with white embossing powder. It was then punched out with the Everyday Label Punch. The flowers were coloured Balmy Blue Stampin’ Blends and the leaves with Granny Apple Green. Of course, you can use any colours you prefer and any colouring medium. A coat of Wink of Stella was added to the flowers to give them a pretty shimmer. These were then fussy cut and added to the panel.

Happy Birthday (Simply Succulents / Vine Design)

Hi everyone, recently one of my sweet friends celebrated her birthday. As she loves plants and succulents, in particular, the only choice of product to create her card with was the Simply Succulents bundle.

After stamping the main images in Black Memento ink, I coloured the design in with an assortment of Stampin’ Blends (including Soft Succulent and Pale Papaya which will be available from 4 May 2021). Some of my colouring choices were inspired by one of the sample cards in the new catalogue.

The card base and patterned papers are in Soft Succulent. The sentiment, from Vine Design, was stamped on Fresh Freesia (another new InColor) cardstock.

The stamped image was finished off with a coat of Wink of Stella to add a nice subtle shimmer.

I’m so happy with how this card has turned out and I hope my friend loves it as well.

What do you all think of the new 2021-2023 InColors? Are you looking forward to getting them too? I think you are going to find they (along with the new Polished Pink and Evening Evergreen) really do go a long way to rounding out the colours in the Stampin’ Up!® range.

Birthday Wishes (Fancy Phrases)

Hi everyone, with the end of the 2020-2021 Annual Catalogue rapidly approaching, I decided to re-create a few of the cards in the catalogue which have inspired me over the twelve months. Today’s card is featured on page 52 and it features the Fancy Phrases stamp set. I’ve recreated the card fairly faithfully although I’ve used a different sentiment and colouring medium (I used Stampin’ Blends).

This card also features the fun technique of using your Stampin’ Blends to alter ribbon. In this case, I used the Dark Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends to add lines of colour to the white ribbon from the Flowers for Every Season Ribbon Combo Pack. This is one of my favourite techniques as you can colour white ribbon to perfectly match any of your card projects.

Happy Birthday (Peaceful Moments / Many Layered Blossoms)

Hi everyone, I hope you all had a wonderful Easter and hopefully you were able to spend time with your loved ones! We enjoyed a quiet Easter and we’ve taken the opportunity to go on a few day trips. It’s been quite relaxing and peaceful. Unfortunately, that means I haven’t done any creating of late!

When I did sit down to create, I decided to CASE (Copy And Share Everything) a card featured in the January to June 2021 Mini Catalogue. I loved it the moment I saw it! It’s on page 28 if you are interested in seeing the original. The card features the Many Layered Blossoms die set which is such a lovely die set. It enables you to, well…layer, the pieces and create a beautiful floral piece. I chose to use the colours featured in the catalogue – Basic White, Blushing Bride, Magenta Madness and Rococo Rose (unfortunately this colour of cardstock has retired and is no longer available).

I also made sure to add Adhesive Sheets to the cardstock before I die cut the pieces so that it was easier to stick all the pieces together.

The greeting I used came from the Peaceful Moments stamp set. The sample in the catalogue used a sentiment from the Happy Thoughts stamp set.

For the final touch, I added some Braided Linen Trim (the sample in the catalogue used the Mossy Meadow Braided Linen Trim) and a few of the Ladybug Trinkets.

Isn’t the Many Layered Blossoms die set GORGEOUS?! Imagine all the different colour combinations you could use! So much fun!

I love a sketch challenge. Sometimes I find them to be so easy but other times I struggle. I don’t know why! This one, however, was SO fun! I chose to use products from the Fine Art Floral Suite Collection. Whilst it can be fun to mix and match products, it is also fun to be able to pick up one suite and know everything just works!

I had such fun with this sketch and using the Fine Art Floral Suite. I think it might be fun to replicate this design – which is quite simple – with some of the other colours featured in this collection.

It’s Your Birthday! (Oh Snap)

Hi everyone, one of the most fun stamp sets in the January to June 2021 Mini Catalogue is the Oh Snap stamp set. I love that you can use this stamp set for children or adults alike. It’s perfect for masculine cards as well and we all know how tricky masculine cards can be. Having said that, the card I am sharing today does have a more feminine feel to it.

The stamp set doesn’t come with dies but it really doesn’t take very long to fussy cut which is what I did here. I then popped it up with Stampin’ Dimensionals on a panel of Basic White cardstock which was die cut using the Stitched So Sweetly dies and shaded with a hint of Pool Party ink.

This panel was attached to a Coastal Cabana card base which I stamped and sponged with Coastal Cabana ink. I love the extra bit of interest this gives the card.

One part of the card I wanted to highlight was the colouring of the lotus flower. It is SO easy! I stamped directly on patterned paper and then fussy cut the image out. Unfortunately, the paper I used – Butterfly Bijou – is no longer available! I’m so sad about that as I have been LOVING creating with it!

Speaking of no longer available – as I advised a few days back, the Retiring List is out and things are selling out FAST! If you have your eye on something, please don’t wait too long. Once they are gone…they’re gone!
