Happy Birthday (Sunflowers / Itty Bitty Greetings) – CASE the Catalogue

Hi everyone, today I am sharing a card CASEd (Copy And Share Everything) from one of the best places to go for inspiration – the Stampin’ Up! Catalogue.  This card features the Sunflower dies (which coordinate with the Celebrate Sunflowers stamp set).

My big tip for a card like this is to apply Adhesive Sheets (I think these are a must-have item for die-cutting) to the back of your cardstock before you die cut it.  It makes it so much easier to adhere the different sections together.  For the top layer of petals, I only stuck the adhesive to the centre part of the flower so that it was properly secured but could I could separate the tips of the petals for more dimension.

Isn’t this a pretty card? I think you could also change up the background patterned papers, and switch up the colours of cardstock.  You could also use the stamped image instead of the die cuts if you prefer.  I hope you’ll give it a go.

Happy Birthday Trio (Prized Peony / Itty Bitty Greetings)

Hi everyone, I recently made a card using the Prized Peony bundle and some ribbon from the Playing with Patterns Ribbon Combo Pack (you can see the card here).  When trying to work out what colours to use with this card, I ended up stamping and colouring a few options.  They were too pretty not to use so I paired them with leftover stickers from the Box of Sunshine kit.  I kept the card design really simple and finished it off with a sentiment from the Itty Bitty Greetings stamp set.

By the time I started creating my third card, I had run out of the stickers from the Box of Sunshine kit.  I cut a black cardstock panel to the same size as the stickers.  I used the Old World Paper embossing folder to add a little texture but it didn’t have quite the same impact as the stickers.  To try and add that impact, I placed a dot of Whisper White Craft ink on an acrylic block.  I added just a drop of water, mixed it up and then flicked this ink over my panel.  Whilst it is a much more subtle effect than the stickers, I think it still looks great!

As I already had all of the elements from previous projects, these cards really didn’t take long to put together.  Which colour of the trio is your favourite?

Happy Birthday (Prized Peony / Itty Bitty Greetings)

Hi everyone, if you are like me, you LOVE the beautiful ribbons and twines which are available.  If you are also like me, you might not use them very often.  I tend to tie the odd bow on my card but that’s about it.  I was sitting at my craft table last night looking at the gorgeous ribbons and saw the 1/2″ (1.3cm) Purple Posy Ribbon from the Playing with Patterns Ribbon Combo Pack.  I thought how pretty it is and then realised I had never used it!  That had to change immediately.  Before I knew it I was weaving the ribbon and created this beautiful background panel.  It looked so lovely.

I paired the ribbon background with the gorgeous peony from the Prized Peony stamp set and a sentiment from the Itty Bitty Greetings stamp set.  I love this stamp set! Don’t get me wrong, I love both of the stamp sets!  I love the Itty Bitty Greetings stamp set has basic sayings.  It’s a staple in my collection.

The peony was coloured with the Purple Posy and Mint Macaron Stampin’ Blends Markers and finished with a coat of Wink of Stella.  I added a simple embossed sentiment and some Pearls to finish the card.  As the ribbon background is quite busy, I didn’t want to add too much more.

The weaving didn’t take too long and it certainly made me happy to use more of this pretty ribbon.  I hope you’ll give this technique a go.

Let’s Celebrate You (Celebrate Sunflowers / CASE the Catalogue)

Hi everyone, as I was pulling together my supply list for the card I shared for the StampingPals challenge blog this month, I went to my online store to add the links as I usually do.  While doing this task, I saw a sample card which I loved and had to CASE (Copy And Share Everything).  I don’t know how I missed it when you consider how often I flick through the catalogue!

The card features the beautiful Celebrate Sunflowers stamp set and the coordinating Sunflowers dies (also available as a bundle for a 10% discount).  It also uses the wooden embellishments from the In Good Taste Elements pack.  I haven’t used them before today but I love the different look they give the card instead of using Rhinestones or Pearls.

The other thing I loved about this card is that there is no colouring.  You stamp directly on to the coloured cardstock and the depth of colour comes from adding the die cuts to the top of the stamped image.  It really looks gorgeous.

I think it might be fun to recreate this card using some other colours.  What do you think?  What colours would you use?

Celebrate (Band Together)

Hi everyone,  today I am sharing another card featuring the lovely Band Together stamp set and the coordinating Detailed Bands dies.   I had seen a really pretty card in the catalogue where the designer had used the Detailed Band dies but left all the inside pieces still intact.  It looked so good so I wanted to give it a go.  It was a little fiddly, and I haven’t worked out a better way to do it yet (so if you have any ideas, please feel free to share).  Basically, I ran the die through the Stampin’ Cut and Emboss Machine and then carefully moved the die so that all the pieces remained in place.  I used some sticky tape to hold all the pieces in place before then removing the cardstock from the die.

Here’s the card…

I coloured the main flower from the stamp set with the Light and Dark Highland Heather Stampin’ Blends.  The leaves were coloured with the Light and Dark Granny Apple Green.  All images were then die cut.  I did add a little extra bit of interest to the design with some die cuts cut from Very Vanilla cardstock.  The final touch was to add some bling in the form of Rhinestones.

Celebrate (Band Together)

Hi everyone,  today’s card features the lovely Band Together stamp set and the coordinating Detailed Bands dies.  I love a few things about this set aside from the gorgeous imagery.  The main floral image from the stamp set can be used as it is.  You can also use dies from the die set to cut out one of the flower heads, and when paired with the stand-alone leaf die, it opens up a myriad of new design options. Of course, you can always fussy cut any of the images too.  For this card, I decided to use the die cuts and just use parts of the floral image.  I also had to do a little fussy cutting.

TIP: To add a little extra interest to my sentiment panel, I left the cardstock in place and used my Light Pool Party Stampin’ Blends to draw a border.  You could also use a Stampin’ Write marker depending on the look you are aiming for.

Hi everyone, I recently shared a card inspired by my super talented quilting friend, Emily.  Today I’m sharing another version of that card.  I don’t know what the quilting design is called but it is a pretty one.  The Stitched Triangles Dies makes it so easy to “quilt” with paper.

The Flowers for Every Season patterned paper is great for ‘paper quilting’.  I finished off the design with a Happy Birthday sentiment from the Peaceful Moments stamp set.

Today I am sharing simple card using the Basket of Blooms stamp set.  It is such a sweet set which you can use to make all kinds of wonderful floral bouquets.  I teamed it with the Happy Birthday sentiment from the Timeless Tulips stamp set. My idea for this card was to create a pot plant in front of a lattice-type structure and I thought the reverse side of one of the Forever Gold Laser-Cut Specialty Paper die-cuts would be ideal.  I sponged it with Rococo Rose ink to tone in with the card base.
This card does have a little bit of fussy cutting as the Basket of Blooms stamp set does not have a coordinating die set but there are some really simple ways to make this process easier.  Check out my Facebook Live from last week for some of these ideas.

Happy Birthday (Stitched Triangles / Peaceful Moments)

Hi everyone, one of my friends, Emily, is an amazing quilter.  She’s so talented and prolific in her creations.  Every time I see what she’s been making, I want to start quilting.  I’m not a quilter though…at least not with fabric.  The new Stitched Triangles Dies makes it so easy to “quilt” with paper.  I used a basic pinwheel design to start but you could easily search for other quilt patterns online if you wanted to create something a little more complicated.

Happy Birthday (Playful Alphabet Dies / Well Said)

Hi everyone, today my card is featuring the new and fabulous Playful Alphabet Dies.  I love the font, and I love the fact the set comes with multiples of the most commonly used letters.  This is great if you are looking at die cutting and using the negative piece, and of course, it just makes the whole process faster.  And speaking of making the process faster, you MUST get the Foam Adhesive Sheets if you want to pop up your letters.  These sheets will run through your die-cutting machine (just remember to check your sandwich before you start) so you can prepare your cardstock and adhesive before you start.  It’s such an easy way to add dimension to your cards.

If I was to recreate this card I would actually move the ‘happy’ and ‘birthday’ closer together.  It might also be fun to add another die-cut shape to this panel.  I’m thinking some stars (the biggest around the same size as the letters) scattered over the panel would like fun.  What would you do? How would you change it?
