What a happy day! (Elephant Parade)

by Kylie

Hi everyone, today I am sharing a card featuring the adorable elephants from the Elephant Parade bundle. If you like to colour and create scenes then this card is for you.

I started by stamping out a few of the different elephants and elements from the Elephant Parade stamp set. When it comes to the additional elements I recommend stamping more than you think you might need. It’s easy to have them ready to go and not need them. I coloured all the pieces with Stampin’ Blends (see the colours below). My tip for colouring the elephants is to use Light Petal Pink on the inner ear and then colour over the top with the Granite Gray (or Smoky Slate) Stampin’ Blends. My next tip is to dip a textured rag in some Isopropyl Alcohol and then dab it lightly over the elephants. Don’t soak it as you will ruin your colouring but a light dab will create a really cool look.

After colouring the images, I die-cut them out with the Elephant dies. While the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine was out I also die-cut some grass from the Hues of Happiness Designer Series Paper, and the cloud border from the Basic Borders die set. I used this die-cut piece to sponge on some Pool Party ink to create my sky on a panel of Basic White cardstock. I also sponged on some Granny Apple Green ink onto this panel.

It was at this point I decided to pick out some gorgeous paper from the Texture Chic Designer Series Paper pack as the background of my card base. It might look a little too fancy for such a cutesy card but I love it! It also influenced how I did my sentiment. The sentiment is also from the Elephant Parade stamp set. I stamped it in Versamark on Petal Pink cardstock before white heat embossing it. I trimmed it to size and then layered it on some Gold Foil sheets (to tie in with the gold of the patterned paper).

The final touch was to assemble the card and add some Wink of Stella to some of the elements.

Here’s the card…

This is such a cute card. Don’t think that just because all the elements are cute that you cannot use a fancy patterned paper like the Texture Chic Designer Series Paper as I’ve done here. It does work. It’s just a little different!

All of the supplies you need to make this card can be found in my online store.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Hope you have a great day!
