Create a cute Love Card (Brave Vikings)

by Kylie

Hi everyone, with Valentine’s Day just around the corner, I thought I would share a cute and easy card using the Brave Vikings stamp set. Have you seen this set? What I love about it is that it can be used for different themes – love, birthdays and encouragement. I do love a versatile stamp set! I’ve teamed the stamp set with the super cute Sweet Talk Designer Series Paper.

I started by stamping the Viking from the Brave Vikings stamp set in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on Basic White cardstock. I coloured the image using a variety of colours in the Stampin’ Blends range. You could also use pencils or Stampin’ Write Markers. After colouring the image, I fussy cut it out using Paper Snips. Unfortunately, the stamp set does not have coordinating dies but it really doesn’t take long. It isn’t too fiddly.

For the greeting, I stamped it with Versamark on Real Red cardstock (this coordinates perfectly with the Sweet Talk patterned paper). I then white heat embossed the sentiment and cut it into strips.

The layout of the card is a fairly standard and popular design. I created the card base out of Real Red cardstock. I added a panel of Sweet Talk patterned paper to the background, and layered another strip of patterned paper on the left side of the card.

Using the Layering Circles dies, I die cut a large circle from Basic White cardstock and then layered this on the card. I popped up the sentiment and the Viking with Stampin’ Dimensionals and added them to the card front. The Playful Pets Trim Combo Pack has a slim Real Red and White ribbon which I tied in a bow and added to the card with a Glue Dot. Of course, I also added some Wink of Stella to the sword, helmet and shield.

The final touch was to add just a little bit of Light Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blends underneath the Viking’s feet to ground it.

Here’s the card…

This is actually a really simple card! The design is so flexible and can be used with so many different themes. The colouring is the part that takes the most time but you could definitely simplify it if you want. I had a lot of fun colouring the image and love how it looks. I hope you’ll give this card a go.
