Hi everyone! Today, I’m sharing a fun birthday card I created for Al. His birthday is on Wednesday, and since he’s due home from site tomorrow, I needed to get this finished quickly. While I would normally take a little more time to get things straighter and better aligned, I had to remind myself that sometimes done is better than perfect — and also that Al wouldn’t care about it anywhere near as much as I do!
Short on time and Inspiration? Remember you can CASE!
I really wanted to use the Concord & 9th stamp and die set Hip Hip Hooray for Al’s card. How fabulous are these giant letters? The big ‘YAY’ stamp is so fun, and you can really make it the focus of the card.
I was, however, struggling with inspiration and time commitments, and that’s when I remembered a fabulous sample I’d seen on the Concord & 9th website — and just had to CASE (Copy And Share Everything) it. I loved everything about it and knew Al would like it too.
I didn’t change much about the design aside from using the colours of ink that I had on hand. Of course, you could change up the wording and colours used. You could also use dies to make the ‘YAY’ pop even more, or pop up different elements. Do what inspires you!
Done Is Better Than Perfect
When I finished stamping the sentiments, despite using a stamping tool, I noticed my stamping wasn’t as straight and aligned as I would have liked. But you know what? It doesn’t matter. Handmade cards have their own kind of charm, and getting them done with love and intention is what truly counts. Plus, I was on the clock! Done is better than perfect!
If you’re ever hesitating about a project because it’s not “perfect,” I encourage you to keep going anyway. It’s amazing how much happiness a heartfelt card can bring — even with a few imperfections. I can assure you, your recipient is not going to be anywhere near as critical of it as you are. They will just love that you took the time to create something special just for them!
Here’s the card…
I love the colours of this card. I used inks from Lawn Fawn, and they are so lovely! (Don’t tell Al, but I see more Lawn Fawn inks in my future!)
Are you okay with sending out cards that are done but not perfect? Let me know in the comments below.
Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you have a great day!

Love this card, Kylie! You’re right, we are too critical of our selves .. we just need to get on with the job! Happy birthday to Al on Wednesday!
Thanks heaps, Ruth! I think so too. If I was selling the card, I’d take more time but really, I know Al won’t care! Thanks for the birthday wishes for Al! hugs!
