Happy Birthday (Cottage Rose)

by Kylie

Hi everyone, birthday cards are one of my most needed cards so today I’m back with another birthday card. This card features the beautiful Cottage Rose stamp set. I’ve also returned to a colour combination from our recent Stampers Anonymous Colour Challenge. I really do love the mix of the Soft Sea Foam with the Parakeet Party Stampin’ Blends for colouring leaves.

Okay, let’s get into it. I started by cutting a panel of Basic White cardstock to the size I wanted. I then added some Post It Note tape to the edges to create a white margin before stamping the main floral image from the Cottage Rose stamp set twice. With a Blending Brush, I added some So Saffron ink to the edges of this panel.

With the Soft Sea Foam, Parakeet Party, Petal Pink and So Saffron Stampin’ Blends, I coloured in the images before adding some Wink of Stella. I then removed the Post It Note tape. I love how pretty this looks!

The card base was made from So Saffron cardstock. I used the smaller floral images from the Cottage Rose stamp set to create a subtle background. While I used So Saffron ink, you could also use Versamark. The focal panel was added to the centre of the card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The sentiment was stamped in Versamark on Basic Gray cardstock. I then white heat-embossed this before trimming the sentiment strip to size. I also decided to cut the strip so I could stack the sentiment. It was popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The final touch was to add a few Iridescent Pearl Basic Jewels.

Here’s the card…

This was a lovely card to make. I love the look of the soft ink blending on the edges. I also think this card would look good made in different colourways. I hope you’ll give it a go!
