Make a set of 6 birthday cards (Driving By / Catch You Later)

by Kylie

Hi everyone, one of the things I love most about being a Stampin’ Up!® demonstrator is the other demonstrators. Everyone is so friendly and willing to share ideas. Recently, a member of our Stampers Anonymous team, Amanda Higgins, shared some cards she had made featuring the cute Sale-A-Bration stamp set Driving By. I thought they were super cute and asked if I could CASE (Copy And Share Everything) them. She graciously agreed. They were so easy to make and they look so cute, and the next thing I knew I had made a set of six cards.

The process was the same for each of the cards, I just mixed up the colours.

I started by picking out three sheets of the Sunshine & Rainbows Designer Series Paper and trimmed strips to 4.5cm wide. Once this was done, I picked out coordinating cardstock. I ended up going with Coastal Cabana, Flirty Flamingo, Granny Apple Green, Mango Melody, Misty Moonlight and Polished Pink. I created the card base and then embossed the front with the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder. The Sunshine & Rainbows patterned paper strips were then adhered to this card base.

Next, I stamped out the van from the Driving By stamp set six times. I coloured them exactly the same except for the main body and roof of the van I chose the Stampin’ Blends marker which most closely matched the cardstock. For the Coastal Cabana base, I used Bermuda Bay Stampin’ Blends but coloured over the top with the Colour Lifter so that it softened the colour. For the Mango Melody card, I chose Daffodil Delight. Once the images were coloured, I die cut them using the Layering Circles dies.

I added some Adhesive Sheets to the back of some Basic White cardstock and then used the clouds dies from the Brilliant Rainbows dies to cut out a heap of clouds. I ended up using three clouds on each card.

For the sentiment, I had grand ideas as to what I might do but in the end, I kept it simple. I stamped the Happy Birthday from Us sentiment (from the Catch You Later stamp set) in Versamark on cardstock which coordinated with the card base. This was then white heat-embossed and trimmed to size. I simply cut off the “from us” part of the sentiment. You could mask it but I found it just as easy to trim it off.

The final touch, after applying some Wink of Stella, was to assemble the card.

Here are the cards…

Even though there was a bit of colouring to do it was surprising how quickly these cards came together. I love how they all turned out. The colours make me happy. Do you have a favourite colour?

All the supplies you need to recreate this card can be found in my online store. Don’t forget that for every $90 you spend you can also choose a FREE Sale-A-Bration item such as the Driving By stamp set, or the Rainbows & Sunshine Designer Series Paper. Sale-A-Bration ends TODAY (16 March 2022).
