Stampin’ Creative Global Blog Hop – July 2022 – Summer Sunshine

by Kylie

Hello and welcome to the Stampin’ Creative Global Blog Hop! Each month a few Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrators from around the world come together to inspire! Currently, you’re visiting the blog of Kylie at Stampers Workshop in Australia! Thanks so much for hopping with us!

The theme for our July 2022 Blog Hop is Summer Sunshine.

What do you think of when it comes to summer? For me, I think of air-conditioning. After that, I think about how bright everything is, getting up to watch the sunrise over the estuary, or watching the sunset at the beach. I think about how people in our area love to head out and fish, boat, swim, dive and more and that’s how I ended up with my idea for today’s card.

I started with the Hippest Hippos stamp set but I decided to make the hippo into a cow because I thought that would be fun. I coloured in the image with Petal Pink and Basic Black Stampin’ Blends. I then die-cut the cow using the Hippo die set. Also from this die set, I cut the dive mask and snorkel from Blushing Bride cardstock and the boat from Smoky Slate cardstock. I adhered the dive mask to a Window Sheet and then cut around it so that it looks like an actual dive mask. It’s hard to see in the photo but you can tell in real life.

I die cut some water drops and the waves from Basic White cardstock using the Hippo dies. With a Blending Brush, I added some Balmy Blue ink and then adhered them to create my water.

To create my scene, I also die-cut a piece of Basic White cardstock and Balmy Blue cardstock using the Layering Diorama dies. Before adding my water to the Basic White piece, I sponged on some Daffodil Delight ink with a Blending Brush. I had cut out a sunburst from some cardstock as my template.

After layering all the pieces together, I added some Wink of Stella to some of the elements.

The sentiment from the Hippest Hippos was stamped in Blushing Bride on Basic White cardstock and then die cut using the Stylish Shapes dies.

Next, I layered all the elements together on a card base I had layered with a piece of Balmy Blue paper from the Subtles 6×6 Designer Series Paper pack.

Whilst the card is quite subtle, you could always choose bolder colours and really make it POP!

Here’s the card…

Let’s continue on the hop…

Clearly when you are freezing in Australia, the hippo stamp brings thoughts of summer. I love your cute card!
