The theme for our May 2022 Blog Hop is Simple Stamping.

Simple stamping is one style that challenges me so much! In a way, I feel all my stamping is simple (unless I’m working with a specific technique). However, I know the style of simple stamping is generally considered to be more clean and simple, with more white space. I played around with a few ideas before deciding to do something as simple as I could in my own style!

For my card, I created a card base from Thick Basic White cardstock. I also cut a panel of Basic White cardstock for my main focal panel and ran it through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine using the Timber 3D Embossing Folder. While my machine was out I also die cut a circle from Vellum using the Stylish Shapes dies and three fern shapes out of Pear Pizzazz cardstock using the Forever Flourishing dies set. When die-cutting the fern pieces, I added Adhesive Sheets to the back of the cardstock so that it was easy to layer the pieces.

Once all the die-cutting was done, I adhered it to the front of my card base. It was then I decided some gold speckles might look nice on the card so I inked up the dot stamp, from the Forever Fern stamp set, and stamped it on the card. I also stamped the sentiment on a separate piece of Basic White cardstock. Next, I gold-embossed all the stamped images. As I had already adhered the fern to the card, some of the embossing powder stuck to the edges where I hadn’t matched the layers perfectly. I could have tried to brush this off using a clean paintbrush but I actually really liked how it looked. A happy accident!

Next, I trimmed the sentiment to size and popped it up on the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals. The final touch was to add a bow of the Gold Simply Elegant Trim.
